Hi, I know I'm tardy in this post, but because of some writing I'm currently doing, I stumbled upon the fact that if you go to you-tube, you can actually hear a recording of Florence Nightingale's voice!

I've only just come across your blog and as soon as I saw the picture that starts this video I thought of the wonderful 1970s series about the suffragettes: "Shoulder to Shoulder" and the treatment of Emily Wilding Davison. (You might like my post about her at: http://lostinthemythsofhistory.blogspot.com/search/label/Emily%20Wilding%20Davison ). The quotation at the beginning of your video is so amusing (- gosh!! what would happen if women were seen as independent people in their own right? The world would go mad!). I am filled with admiration for the 19th and early 20th century women who had the courage to endure so many insults in order to restore the natural balance and order!
