I can't imagine how this woman got herself strapped so tightly into this contraption called a corset and lived to tell about it. That was a hundred years ago. Now we women sweat and run and exercise and weight train to keep our bodies in shape. My, my, my, we've come a long way, haven't we?

Goodness, it looks like something out of a freak show! No wonder so many Victorian fiction heroines faint. But that said, you're talking about HEALTHY modern women. We have our share of anorexics and size 6 models who look like famine victims. The difference is they starve themselves to get that way, nt squeeze themselves into a corset.

How very true. In this day and age when everything is so plentiful in North America, it saddens and shocks me that young women and girls starve themselves. Thanks for reminding us all that we have similar problems today...
